At RichContext, we actively monitor each client campaign to ensure the best user experience. Earlier this month, we learned that Walmart.com has implemented the process of lazy loading content site-wide, which impacts enhanced content on product detail pages.
What is lazy loading?
Lazy loading is commonly used to make a website faster by reducing load times until they are needed. Traditionally, an entire webpage’s contents are downloaded and rendered at once, even if the user doesn’t scroll to view the whole page. Lazy loading is used to optimize websites or applications through an on-demand loading solution. Web content loads only when the user accesses a particular part of the webpage.
Why does this matter?
Lazy loading can lead to improved website performance and bandwidth savings, which especially benefits users on mobile devices and users with slow Internet connections. Thanks to the new process, product page experiences on Walmart.com will now load faster.
Optimizing page load time helps shoppers access the information they need when they need it. By making product page experiences faster and more efficient, we can improve the confidence of conversion.
As always, RichContext will closely monitor this update and continue to recommend the best solution as additional information becomes available. Thanks for the opportunity to be your partner in the ever-changing world of eCommerce.
