RichContext Supports Local Culinary Community in Partnership with General Mills and BITE NW Arkansas

BITE NW Arkansas is a two-night food festival that is part of LPGA Championship Week in Northwest Arkansas. The festival celebrates the region’s best cuisines and restaurants, giving attendees an unparalleled culinary experience in their own backyard. In response to the coronavirus public health crisis, the sixth annual BITE NW Arkansas food festival, originally scheduled for Fall 2020, was postponed. The in-person event is set to return in 2021, with festival dates to be announced at a later time.

Even though the festival was postponed, the event organizers were faced with a unique opportunity to host a virtual Restaurant Week to showcase exclusive recipes curated by local chefs. The BITE Restaurant Week event promotes over 30 popular restaurants from the Northwest Arkansas region, featuring special offerings, discounted prices, and 8 virtual recipe builders using RichContext’s Hyphen

“Although we can’t be together in person, we’re thrilled to be able to work with our partners at Walmart and General Mills to host this event in an engaging way from a distance,” said Annye DeGrand, Event Director for BITE NW Arkansas. “Hyphen has allowed us to promote some of our favorite restaurants through a reinvented format to help our audience discover new recipes to make at home while learning from the local culinary community. This way, we can still enjoy great food while offering a convenient, hands-on shopping experience.”

Hyphen is a commerce platform that creates a seamless shopping experience with direct add-to-cart functionality. As event participants shop the ingredients for each virtual recipe, Hyphen technology routes to their nearest retailer for added convenience for online grocery pickup and delivery services.

“We wanted to build an interactive destination to encourage the local community to participate in BITE restaurant week while also discovering new product and flavor experiences,” said Taryn Beck, eCommerce and Shopper Marketing Lead at General Mills. “RichContext’s Hyphen recipe builder was able to provide a shoppable solution to drive new recipe ideas on social media. As shoppers browse curated recipes by local restaurants, they can easily add necessary ingredients directly to their cart, simplifying the path to purchase and supporting the NWA culinary community.”

RichContext is grateful for the opportunity to showcase and support the local Northwest Arkansas culinary community in a time where connecting people and food is more important than ever. The General Mills Home Recipe Series can be accessed on the BITE NW Arkansas website or Instagram profile.
